Art is used to communicate ideas and thoughts; it can be used as a tool for self-expression, used as a form of therapy, or even as a means to find beauty in life. Art also captures a moment in time, historical events, social ideas and concepts, and political or social commentary. Please read below to see what we offer to give you these experiences.

Original Fine Artwork
My original artwork can be described as abstract and cubist. The fragmented design along with the geometric and organic elements contain emotional projections of my observations of life. Each original is reflective of a specific time in my life when the work is created. Original pieces are designed to keep the viewer engaged.

Canvas Prints
Canvas prints are available by custom order. The print is wrapped on a wooden stretcher frame. Print sizes range from 8in x 10in to 24in x 36in. Larger sizes may be available upon request.

Poster Prints
Looking for Art by Shantel and seeking a cost friendly option? Poster print options are available for purchase. Perfect for framing in living areas, bedrooms, offices and a great choice for gift giving. Print sizes range from 8in x 10in to 24in x 36in. Larger sizes may be available upon request.

Commissioned Artworks
Art by Shantel gives the client creative agency. An interview is conducted with Shantel to determine interests, location, and subject matter to personalize an art piece just for you. Commissioning gives you the opportunity to be part of the artistic process that is involved when creating your artwork.
About the Artist
I have called Washington my home my entire life. This is where my love of art began. From the moment I was first able to grasp a crayon in my fingers I have loved to create. Throughout my development as an artist, I have been encouraged by loved ones beginning with my grandparents. My Papa would bring home recycled and bound scratch paper for me to draw on. When I was in college, my father purchased the easel I still use today. My grandmother would show my artwork to her friends or sit patiently as I described my work to her. When I entered the Art History program in college everyone was supportive.
Cubism, abstract art, and the use of oil paint were introduced to me by my mentor, Mr. Elmer Williams, who was my high school art teacher and became my mentor. He fostered my artistic voice. I love to travel the world and find much of my inspiration from my travels. My travels influence my work. The cultural experiences, influences, and amazing people are the inspiration for my pieces as many of the subjects featured in my work. My travels here in the United States and abroad foster an evolving voice in my work.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and a minor in African-American Art History from Eastern Washington University. From there, I began to gather inspiration from the numerous places that I have had the opportunity to travel.
My creativity continues to evolve and develop as I gather inspiration from the world around me.
